About Us
The Pragati Institute
of Education & Training (PIET) is a unit of the Pragati
Educational & Welfare Society that has been running a Senior
Secondary School called Pragati Public School since the year 2000.
The Institute is devoted to the cause of preparing quality
teachers for different stages of school education. Since its
establishment in 2005, PIET students have shown excellent results
bringing glory to the Institute as well as for themselves. All the
students have found placement in the MCD and Private schools.
Mentors
PIET is run under the
guidance of reputed educationists and experienced teachers,
namely Prof. A.K. Sharma, former Director NCERT, Prof G.L. Arora,
Former Head Deptt of Teacher Education, NCERT, Dr. Updesh Bevli,
former Professor, Early Childhood Education, NCERT and ECE experts
Ms. Geeta Dudeja and Mrs. Renu Malhotra and Ms. Poonam Manshani,
noomiee of the parent group.
Course Offered
Currently, PIET is
running the ECCE (earlier known as NTT) Teacher Education Course of
two years duration. The Annual intake of the Institute is 50. The
programme is recognized by the National Council for Teacher
Education (NCTE) and is affiliated to the State Council of
Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Delhi, which conducts
examinations and awards diplomas to the successful students.
Eligibility
Criteria for Admission
Relaxation in the
minimum percentage of marks and age is allowed for SC/ST category
students as per Government norms. Seats are reserved for SC, ST,
OBC, Physically Handicapped, Management Quota and some other
categories as per the policy of Delhi Govt./SCERT.
Selection and Fees
The SCERT, Delhi selects
the students on the basis of the selection policy approved by the
Government of NCT, Delhi. Applications for admission are invited by
the SCERT every year in the month of June/July after the declaration
of senior secondary examination results.
The consolidated fee for
the Course is Rs. 30,000/- per year to be paid in four installments,
each year. The fee charged is as per the norms laid down by SCERT /
Govt. of NCT, Delhi.
Course Curriculum
The Curriculum of the
course is as prescribed by the SCERT, Delhi, which comprises five
Theory Courses and three Practical Courses in the first year, and
four Theory Courses and three Practical Courses in the second year.

The Institute has a
well-equipped library having over 3500 volumes and CDs
on all subjects, manned by a full time professionally trained
librarian. The Library also subscribes to a number of journals and
magazines.

Results in the final examinations conducted by the SCERT, Delhi.

Every year the Institute
celebrates all festivals and special days like Teachers’ Day,

Admissions for the
2010-2012 Batch
The Admission process for
the batch 2010-2012 shall commence in the month of May-June, 2010.
The students desirous of seeking admissions are advised to look for
the Admission announcement to be issued by SCERT, Delhi in daily
newspaper Nav Bharat Times. They are further advised to visit the
SCERT website www.scertdelhi.org for information about the time schedule for submission of
applications etc.
